About the program
Established in 1969 as the second oldest family medicine residency in the U.S., UB's program is New York State's largest and offers four tracks: urban Buffalo General–Jericho Road, urban Erie County Medical Center, suburban Millard Fillmore–UB Family Medicine Amherst, and rural Olean General 1-2. Residents follow their own patient panel throughout training, have four and a half months of electives, and can add concentrations in global health or academic faculty development. The department's Primary Care Research Institute supports resident scholarly work.
