About the program
The UAB Family Medicine Residency is a 6-6-6 program using a two-campus model, with Birmingham as the main educational hub and the UAB Selma Family Medicine Clinic as a core rural training site in Alabama's Black Belt. Four positions per year are in the Birmingham track and two in the Selma track, and all residents rotate in both communities. Training spans inpatient care, obstetrics, pediatrics, health promotion, procedures, community health and outpatient care across clinics, hospitals, emergency departments, mobile health units and nursing facilities.
