UWorld is a question bank (QBank) used by many students preparing for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 3. This page summarizes what UWorld says about its product; confirm current features and pricing on its site.
What UWorld says it offers
- QBanks for each Step: UWorld states that its Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 3 QBanks are written and maintained by practicing doctors.
- Custom tests: under "Create Test" you can build tests and quizzes from questions organized by subject and system.
- Self-assessments: up to three USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK self-assessments per exam, each described as four 60-minute blocks of 40 questions. The real exams now use 30-minute blocks of up to 20 questions, so check how the product matches test day.
- Performance reports by subject, system and topic, a study planner, a notebook, flashcards (ReadyDecks and SmartCards) and a mobile app.
- Step 3: a review of Computer-based Case Simulations. See CCS.
- A free demo with 10 questions per exam.
A feature called "Topic Search" is sometimes mentioned online. We could not find that name on UWorld's public pages, so check inside the product.
Using a question bank well
- Do timed, mixed blocks as the exam nears; use untimed, topic-based sets while learning.
- Read every explanation, including for questions you answered correctly.
- Record weak areas, then review them using a reference such as First Aid or AMBOSS.
- Cross-check your readiness with an NBME self-assessment.
Compare it with other tools in study resources compared, and see the USMLE Step 1 guide, USMLE Step 2 CK guide and USMLE Step 3 guide for what each exam tests. UWorld and USMLE WEB are not affiliated.
