About the program
Anesthesiology residency founded in 1953 at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland, a Level 1 trauma center and tertiary referral hospital affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. Residents train across more than 40,000 annual anesthetics at the Portland campus and the MaineHealth Surgery Center Scarborough, with cardiac, vascular, thoracic, pediatric, high-risk obstetric, neurosurgical and orthopedic cases. The small residency relative to case volume allows assignments based on educational needs, and more than half of graduates pursue fellowships.
